OK now that that's done, let's get to the food!
For breakfast I usually have oatmeal, and this is just some old fashioned rolled oats that I pre-soaked the night before. All you have to do is add some oatmeal and water. Then you add some berries in. After we mix our oatmeal and berries, we will put in flax seeds. I get the whole flax seeds so I have to grind it up myself with my coffee grinder. The reason that I grind my flax seeds from whole instead of the already ground version is because you don't know how long that bag of ground flax seeds have been sitting at the store. You just don't know how long it's been, how do they grind it, and was it sitting out for a long time? You just don't know if they nutritional value is still intact by the time it gets to your kitchen and you use it. This is why I like to grind my flax seeds at home while they are still whole, even though it is tempting to just get the ground version and they're convenient to use. But as you can see, that was really fast too and you can grind a lot at once and save it for later!
Now I'm going to microwave the oatmeal for a minute and a half to 2 minutes. Then I topped the bowl with bananas and I've cut up some figs here. I usually just eat the fig whole and bite out of it since they're so soft, but for demonstration purposes, I will slice them. And there is our breakfast oatmeal bowl! I'm also going to slice a couple pluots to eat. Pluots are basically a combination of plums and apricots.
For lunch today I'll actually be spending the whole day at school and I won't be getting home until late in the evening. Here we have some rice and veggie soup that is leftover from a vegan Vietnamese restaurant that we went to. These are fake pieces of meat, they taste kind of like spam. It's actually really good. There are bamboo shoots in here, cabbage, carrots, cilantro, and portabella mushrooms. So this is what I'm having for lunch, rice and soup, just because I had it handy from leftovers. I also packed a bag of grapes to have on hand whenever I'm hungry and also a box of watermelon pieces with a toothpick so it's easy for me to eat. This is just an example of what you can bring to school or work. So that's what I'll be grazing on throughout the day and having for lunch. I hope it's enough because I won't be back 'til the late evening, so I hope I packed enough food. That's one of my biggest advice to you is to make sure you always have food with you. I do tend to bring food and lunch with me throughout the day pretty often, pretty much anytime I'll gone for more than 3 hours at a time, 'cause you know, I get hungry. I don't know what I'll be having for dinner yet, so I will let you guys know!
